About
The TeachVIHistory project was developed to assist educators in teaching US Virgin Islands history, and to encourage the use of digitized primary source material in the classroom. The project involved the development of activities related to USVI history, built around primary sources, for grades K to 12. These activities are presented on the project website at TeachVIHistory.com. Teachers and home study educators are encouraged to use the activities as is, or to adapt the materials for their lesson plans.
This project was inspired by DocsTeach, an online tool for teaching US History with documents from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
TeachVIHistory.com is a product of the Caribbean Genealogy Library (CGL). CGL’s mission is to identify, preserve, and provide access to Caribbean genealogy, history, and cultural heritage information resources for the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean, and to promote and encourage their use for family history documentation, education, and scholarship.
